Introduction

The subject is Mysticism. This term derives from the Greek "mystikos," an initiate of the Eleusinian Mysteries, and is defined as the aspiration towards attaining identity with, or conscious awareness of, ultimate reality, spiritual truth, or God through direct experience, intuition, or insight.
We will be examining the "Mysteries of Mysticism." Why should there be "Mysteries?" Well, the Greek word "mysteria" means initiation.
The process of initiation implies that the mystic's goal unfolds gradually in several, distinct stages or steps.
